By the time Rose Hill ran 10 offensive plays Tuesday night, Laqua Mayes had three touchdowns and 165 rushing yards, and the Rockets were well on their way to the second round of the Class 4A football playoffs.

Rose Hill beat visiting Augusta 45-0 and will face Abilene in the second round on Saturday in Rose Hill.

Mayes finished with 24 carries, 269 yards and the three scores. He had scoring plays of 59, 3 and 87 yards, all in a first quarter that saw Rose Hill jump to a 21- 0 lead.

Rose Hill (9-1) finished with 534 offensive yards, averaging 8.0 yards per play.

Augusta, which won its only two games in its district to make the playoffs, had 104 total yards.
