Maize’s Keiryn Swenson, who will be a senior, was named Kansas’ female Gatorade track and field athlete of the year.

Swenson, who has made an oral commitment to play basketball at Tulsa and was a 2014 All-Metro selection, won the Class 6A javelin in May with a throw of 148 feet, 4 inches. She won the Kansas Relays in April, throwing 155-2, which ranked fifth in the nation at that time.

Swenson is also a standout volleyball player.
