3A, 2-1A baseball: Lyons-Chase, Marion tumble

Lyons-Chase had nine hits in its Class 3A baseball quarterfinal Friday, but Rock Creek made the most of its five hits in a 6-2 victory in Topeka.

Jacob Buckman got two hits, and Ryan McClure drove in both of Lyons-Chase’s runs.

Silver Lake 9, Marion 8 — Cody Renfro allowed just one earned run in five innings of relief but took the loss as Silver Lake wiped out a 6-0 deficit to advance. Griff Case and Jacob Baldwin got two hits apiece in Marion’s nine-hit attack.

Wellsville 4, Bluestem 3 — Bluestem loaded the bases with none out in the top of the seventh and ended up scoring two runs but came up one short in being eliminated by Wellsville. John Stiger took the loss, allowing just one earned run and six hits in six innings.
