Boys roundup: Balanced scoring carries Independent
Sam Gilman and Jack Mitchell had 11 points each, leading five Independent boys players in double figures as the Panthers maintained their part of a three-way Central Plains League lead, beating Belle Plaine 76-42.
Michael Kay, Shase Williams and Chad Eikleberry had 10 points for Independent, which is tied with Douglass and Trinity Academy at 6-1 in the CPL.
Tanner Balsters and Tyler Balsters had 12 each for Belle Plaine.
Southeast 69, Carroll 61 — Jordan Murdock scored 31 points to lead the Buffaloes to a home victory. Matt Price led Carroll with 21 points, while Connor Evans added 13.
Heights 55, Northwest 50 — The visiting Falcons rallied from a small deficit in the fourth quarter. Davon Gill had 13 points and Arie Johnson had 11 for Heights, while Kaleb Cobb had 15 to lead the Grizzlies.
El Dorado 56, Buhler 32 — Host El Dorado held Buhler to nine first-half points in a Division III win. Travis House led the Wildcats with 15 points, while Quentin Hendricks led Buhler with 13.
Clearwater 56, Circle 32 — The host Indians outscored Circle 42-15 in the second half. Devin Roth had 11 to lead Clearwater.
Collegiate 72, Wellington 51 — Austin Waddell had 15 points, Brodey Dick had 11 and Jack Copher 10 in Collegiate’s Division IV road win. Austin Dunn led the Crusaders with 15.
Andover Central 54, Maize South 50 — Central outscored Maize South 19-8 in the fourth quarter for the Division II victory. Darraja Parnell had 19 points to lead the Jaguars.
McPherson 53, Mulvane 46 — The visiting Bullpups improved to 16-1 behind 13 points from Ryan Horton. Collin Dempsey had 11 for Mulvane.
Winfield 73, Rose Hill 66 — Winfield built a double-digit first-quarter lead and made it hold up in a Division III game that featured 57 fourth-quarter points. Will Adler led Winfield with 26 points and Logan Mays had 17, while Ben Priebe and Alek Santo had 17 each for Rose Hill.
Valley Center 63, Arkansas City 43 — Nathan Brown scored 15 points to lead Valley Center to victory in a Division II game. Skyler Bryant had 12 points and Trent Gashler 11 for Ark City.

Cheney 72, Bluestem 47 — Cameron Hill and Tyler Amsink led the Cardinals with 17 points, with Ty Patterson adding 16.
Trinity Academy 71, Chaparral 47 — Alex Carro had 13 points, Preston Miller 12 and Matt Jones 10 for Trinity, which stayed atop the CPL.
Garden Plain 61, Conway Springs 45 — Nick Thimesch had 14 points and Clayton Milford 12 as the host Owels pulled away in the fourth quarter. Ross Rasmussen had 18 points for Conway.
