Boys roundup: Griffin helps South past Carroll
South’s Kaden Griffin went 6 for 6 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter and made a key steal to help the Titans beat Bishop Carroll 39-33 in a City League boys basketball game on Friday night at Carroll.
Griffin and teammate Jordan Moore scored 11 points. arroll’s Matt Price scored 14 points.
Heights 70, West 44 — Sophomore Davon Gill had a season-high 21 points for the Falcons, who built a 42-23 halftime lead. Bryce Money had 11 points to lead West.
Andale 57, El Dorado 41 — Jeffery Ast (19 points) and the visiting Indians held El Dorado to 11 first-half points. Lane Macari added 10 for Andale, while Alec Hildreth and Garrett Howland had 11 apiece for El Dorado.
Collegiate 53, Clearwater 50 — At Clearwater, Camron Chugg and Brodey Dick had 10 each and seven other teammates scored for Collegiate. Devin Roth had 16 points and Reed Van Deest had 13 for Clearwater.
Eisenhower 72, Arkansas City 45 — Trevon Evans scored 20 points to lead the visiting Tigers. Bailey Strunk scored 12 points and Daniel Southworth and Matt Morris had 11 points each.
Maize South 66, Goddard 46 — Kade Kordonowy scored 20 points, Brett Barney 19 and Peyten Ricks 18 for host Maize South. Tucker Vang had 18 points and Maxie Mikle had 15 for Goddard.
Newton 59, Salina Central 49 — Tevin Berry had 17 points and Sam Lehman added 15 for the host Railers. Treyton Hines led Central with 16 points.
Valley Center 55, Salina South 41 — The host Hornets were led by Jacob Brittain’s 17 points, while Patrick Schrater added 11.
Wellington 60, Mulvane 53 — Trevor Nance scored 24 points and Austin Dunn added 15 for the visiting Crusaders, who outscored Mulvane 14-6 in the fourth quarter. Collin Dempsey had 17 points to lead Mulvane.
Augusta 59, Winfield 43 — The host Orioles took control with a 32-16 halftime lead. Tristan Finch (16 points) and Connor Hurst (13) led the Orioles, while Will Adler had 20 for Winfield.

Trinity Academy 86, Douglass 85, OT — Chase Banister scored 29 points and Cody Holthaus had 28 for Douglass, which rallied from five points down in the fourth quarter to force overtime. But a last-second shot to win in overtime was blocked. Matt Jones and Preston Miller had 16 points each for Trinity.
Independent 70, Bluestem 41 — Host Independent got 20 points and five three-pointers from Chandler Miranda in a CPL victory. Michael Kay added 14 points.
Conway Springs 53, Belle Plaine 38 — The Cardinals won a CPL road game with a 24-6 second quarter. Ross Rasmussen had 24 points for Conway, while Belle Plaine’s Brando Happy had 12.
Cheney 56, Garden Plain 35 — Cameron Hill scored 23 points and Austin Wheelock had 14 in the host Cardinals’ victory.
