Roundup: Southeast blows past KC Turner in Valley Center tournament
Trevon Evans scored 21 points and Tyler Buchanan had 13 points to lead Eisenhower past Louisburg 62-30 on Thursday night and into the championship game of the Spring Hill tournament.
Eisenhower was powered by a 31-4 third quarter that extended its lead to 37 points by the start of the fourth quarter. Brennan Stemple had 12 points for Eisenhower.
The Tigers will meet Gardner-Edgerton in Friday’s championship.
Other boys tournaments
Southeast 90, KC Turner 73 — Jordan Murdock led five Southeast players in double figures with 26 points as the Buffaloes won in the first round of the Valley Center January Jam. EJ Garnes had 20 points, Jerrick Harding 17, Elijah Payne 11 and Reagan Oyugi 10 for the Buffaloes (7-3).
Valley Center 46, Garden City 45 — Jacob Brittain had 16 points for Valley Center, which won by holding Garden City to four points in the final quarter.
Olathe North 63, Andover Central 52 — The Jaguars lost a first-round game at Chanute despite 20 points by Christian DeYoung and 14 from Darraja Parnell.
Clearwater 80, Mulvane 73 — Johnny Becker scored 25 points and Devin Roth had 23 as the Indians moved into the Roadrunner Classic semifinals at Chaparral. Guner Lampe had 30 points for Mulvane.
Garden Plain 50, Haven 46 — In the Halstead losers bracket, Garden Plain rallied in the fourth quarter with 23 points to overtake Haven. Troy Puetz and Nate Paul had 14 points each for Garden Plain, while Timothy Hendrixson had 14 for Haven, followed by 13 each from Jacob Newcomer and Isaac Ensz.
Halstead 52, Rose Hill 46 — The host Dragons won a losers bracket game by making 10 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter. Anthony Santiago had 24 points to lead Halstead, while Gabe Nickel led Rose Hill with 17 points.
Andover 66, Smoky Valley 27 — Adam DeKoning scored 15 points and Andover took advantage of Smoky Valley’s scoreless second quarter to win a losers bracket game at the Salina Invitational. Cole Nyberg led the Vikings with 19 points.
Rose Hill 67, Wright Christian 12 — At Coffeyville, Kynnedy Myers had 17 points and Mackenzie Herman had 16 for Rose Hill (4-7). The Rockets opened a 20-point first-quarter lead over Wright Christian, a small private school in Tulsa.
