Boys roundup: Circle rallies for win over Clearwater

Garrett Cannon scored 19 points and added seven blocks to carry Circle to a 58-48 win over Clearwater on Friday night. The Thunderbirds trailed Clearwater by one at the end of both the second and third quarters, but Dylan Driver’s nine points in the fourth quarter helped build its final lead. Johnny Becker led Clearwater with 19 points, with nine coming in the third quarter.

Other AV-CTL

Eisenhower 74, Dodge City 57 — Tyler Buchanan scored 21 points and Trevon Evans scored 20 to lead Eisenhower to the win over visiting Dodge City. Brennan Stemple was the other Eisenhower player in double figures with 13 points.

Andover 68, Goddard 38 — Andover stormed to a 36-16 halftime lead and never looked back in a win over visiting Goddard. Andover big man Adam DeKoning led all players with 19 points.

Derby 55, Hutchinson 44 — Derby tightened down on defense in the fourth quarter, holding Hutchinson to just eight points for the win in Derby. James Conley led Derby with 17 points while Jeremy Dunham added 13.

Maize South 60, Arkansas City 57 — Maize South improved to 4-0 with the win at Arkansas City. Kade Kordonowy led the Mavericks with 19 points and Payten Ricks added 14.

Andover Central 59, Valley Center 54 — Trailing 30-27 at halftime, Andover Central bounced back with a big third quarter and a big night from sophomore Darraja Parnell, who scored 30 points.

Collegiate 73, Wellington 53 — Cameron Christian scored 13 points and Collegiate hit six three-pointer and 11 of 14 free throws in a rout of Wellington.

Central Plains League

Conway Springs 71, Belle Plaine 49 — Leading just 33-25 at halftime, Conway Springs busted open the home win in the second half behind big nights from Ross Rasmussen (24 points) and Dylan Murphy (21 points).

Garden Plain 51, Chaparral 43 — Tied 36-36 headed into the fourth quarter, Garden Plain turned up the defensive pressure in the final period for the win. The Owls were led by 12 points from Clayton Milford, their only player in double figures.

Independent 75, Bluestem 41 — Independent had its offense going in the first half, leading 51-25 at halftime, then turned to defense in the second half to lock up the win. Three Independent players scored in double figures, led by Chandler Miranda’s 17 points. Jack Mitchell added 11 points and Michael Kay had 10 for the Panthers.

Trinity Academy 76, Douglass 74 (OT) — Trinity Academy’s Matt Jones led the Knights with 30 points in a two-point road win. Alex Carro added 19 for the Knights while Cody Holthaus scored a game-high 36 points for Douglass and Chase Banister added 18 points.

Halstead 59, Kingman 39 — Halstead’s Anthony Kingman led all scorers with 23 points against visiting Kingman.
