Boys roundup: Conway Springs edges Garden Plain
Ross Rasmussen took a pass from Matthew Leddy and scored a layup with 10 seconds remaining to lift host Conway Springs to a 50-48 victory over Garden Plain in a Central Plains League boys basketball game on Tuesday night.
Garden Plain's Troy Puetz hit a three-pointer with 20 seconds remaining to tie it at 48.
Rasmussen had 20 points and Dylan Murphy had 12 for Conway. Three Owls players — Puetz, Nate Pauly and Tommy Rowold — had 13 points each.
South 49, Northwest 47 — Northwest’s game-winning three-point try missed, and South’s Dawson Gunter got the rebound to seal the win for the Titans. Gunter had 12 points to lead South, while Nick Williams had 11 to lead Northwest.
Southeast 64, West 41 — E.J. Garnes had 14 points and Jerrick Harding 12 to lead host Southeast, which led 22-8 after one quarter. Caleb Farris had 21 points to lead West.
Andover 63, Arkansas City 31 — The visiting Trojans powered to a Division II victory behind a 25-4 first quarter, leading 38-12 at halftime. Adam DeKoning had 17 points and Austin Brown 14 for Andover.
Augusta 70, Circle 59 — The host Orioles rallied from a four-point deficit to begin the fourth quarter, pulling away for the Division IV victory. Connor Hurst had 22 poitns and Tristan Finch 20 for Augusta, while Sean Brandenburg added 17. Dylan Driver had 20 for Circle.
Valley Center 65, Goddard 57, OT — Nate Brown made 5 of 6 free throws in overtimer to help seal the Hornets’ home victory. Barden Janzen had 19 points and Jacob Brittain 12 for Valley Center, while Goddard’s Tucker Vang had 27 points.
Newton 50, Salina South 47 — Josh Robinson scored two of his 12 points on free throws in the final seconds for the Railers in a Division I home victory. Brendan Downey had 10 points for Newton. Justin Stonebraker had 15 to lead Salina South.
Maize South 52, Salina Central 46 — Maize South got 12 points from Kade Kordonowy and Brett Barney to offset 27 points from Salina Central’s Treyton Hines.
Andale 56, Wellington 44 — Jason Hermreck had 13 points and Lane Macari added 12 for host Andale.
Winfield 65, Rose Hill 54 — Ben Adler had 24 points to lead Winfield, which outscored Rose Hill 20-4 in the third quarter to pull away. Gabe Nickel had 21 points for Rose Hill.

Trinity Academy 74, Belle Plaine 52 — Matt Jones scored 19 points and Trinity took an early 22-11 lead and won comfortably. Brandon Happy had 18 points and Brett Gooch 13 for the host Dragons.
