Boys roundup: Garden Plain rally stuns Rose Hill
Garden Plain made 7 of 7 fourth-quarter free throws, including four critical tries in the final seconds to complete a comeback over Rose Hill, 58-55 in a non-league game on Friday night.
Trailing by one, Garden Plains Nick Thimesch made a steal and was fouled, making both free throws with 10 seconds remaining. Rose Hill lost the ball again after the free throws, and the Owls Dalton Doyle got the ball and made two free throws with two seconds to play.
Thimesch had 14 points to lead Garden Plain. Gabe Nickel and Ben Priebe had 18 points each to lead Rose Hill.

East 71, North 61 Zach Jackson scored 21 points and Tyas Martin had 16 in Easts victory. Xavier Kelly added 13 points for East (3-0, 3-0 CL), which took control in the third quarter after trailing by a point at halftime. Zach Beard scored 25 points and Tarius Williams had 21 points for North (0-3, 0-3).
Carroll 51, South 43 Connor Evans scored 15 points and helped the host Eagles (1-2) withstand a second-half charge by South. South, which got 10 points from Kaden Griffin, cut a 14-point first-half deficit to two in the third quarter, but the Titans (0-3) never led. Patrick Carney scored nine points, and Matt Price added eight points and 11 rebounds for Carroll.
Augusta 63, Abilene 55 Sean Brandenburg scored 21 points and Connor Hurst had 17 as the Orioles won a non-league game at Abilene.
Eisenhower 94, Arkansas City 36 A 32-point second quarter helped the host Tigers rout Ark City in a Division II game. Trevon Evans scored 25 points for Eisenhower.
Maize 53, Hutchinson 38 Host Maize enjoyed a lead throughout, turning it on in the second half for a Division I victory. Aaron Shaw and Caleb Wilcox had a dozen points each while Jacob Horsch added 11 for Maize.
Maize South 79, Goddard 59 Kade Kordonowy scored 30 points, including seven on three-pointers, as the Mavericks beat Goddard. Maize South poured it on with a 30-point fourth quarter. Tucker Vang led Goddard with 19 points and Ryan Norquist had 17.
Salina Central 62, Newton 45 The Railers Tevin Berry had 12 points in the loss. Jordan McNelly led Central with 21 points and Max Kuhn had 14.
Andale 44, Pratt 24 Hunter Knoblauch had 14 points and Jeffery Ast had 11 to lead the host Indians.
El Dorado 69, Rossville 39 Jared Haury scored 18 points to lead the Wildcats to the road victory. Alec Hildreth added 11 points and Travis House 10 for El Dorado, which led 46-18 at halftime.
Collegiate 73, Hutchinson Trinity 51 Jack Larsen and Camron Chugg had 11 points each in the Spartans road win. Xzavaier Adams added 10 points.
Clearwater 55, Chaparral 37 The host Indians raced to a 36-15 halftime lead in a Cheney tournament game. Devin Roth and Johnny Becker had 16 points each for Clearwater, while Collin Neises had 13. Garret Berry had 12 to lead Chaparral.
Circle 78, Defenders 70 The host T-Birds avoided an upset in their tournament by overcoming a 12-point deficit with a 51-point second half. Senior Dylan Driver scored 25 points to lead Circle.
Kingman 64, Conway Springs 36 The host Eagles got 22 points from Mitchell Packard and 18 from Brandon Bradshaw. Ross Rasmussen led Conway Springs with 17 points.
