Boys roundup: Evans leads Eisenhower to opening victory

Trevon Evans scored 23 of his 32 points in the second half Friday to lead Eisenhower past Salina South 67-65 in an Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League inter-division game in Goddard.

Evans scored 15 points in the third quarter and helped the Tigers hold off Salina South at the end of the game.

Justin Stonebraker had 26 points to lead Salina South, including four threes in the fourth quarter.

Other AV-CTL

Andover Central 81, Campus 47 — Darraja Parnell scored 26 points and Chris Forbes scored 20, including six three-pointers, as the host Jaguars won their opener. Kellen Schutt had 15 points to lead Campus.

Clearwater 64, Kingman 55 — Johnny Becker had 26 points and three teammates were in double figures as the Indians won at Kingman. Collin Neises had 14 points, Reed Van Deest 11 and Devin Roth 10.

Maize 56, Emporia 43 — Jacob Horsch had 15 points and Ky-Sean Johnson and Aaron Shaw had 14 each as the visiting Eagles beat Emporia.

Augusta 78, Mulvane 49 — The host Orioles turned it on in the second half behind 19 points from Connor Hurst and 17 from Kyler Steinkamp. Sean Brandenburg and Dustyn McEachern each added 11 points. Jaden Dulaney and Connor Dempsey each had 13 points for Mulvane.

Hays 60, Newton 35 — Tevin Berry had 11 points to lead the visiting Railers in the Hays Shootout loss.

Central Plains League

Cheney 67, Chaparral 49 — Ty Patterson scored 17 points, Cameron Hill 15 and Tyler Amsink 14 for visiting Cheney. Chaparral, which was outscored 20-6 in the fourth quarter, was led by Garret Berry’s 16 points, while Shawn Nulik and Seth Williams each had 11.

Medicine Lodge 61, Conway Springs 46 — Dane Hrencher had 24 points and Medicine Lodge won its opener at home. The Indians held Conway Springs to 13 first-half points. Ross Rasmussen had 20 points to lead the Cardinals.

Independent 71, Douglass 60 — The host Panthers took control with a 24-10 second quarter. Jonny Richmond led Independent with 14 points and Jack Mitchell added 14. Cody Holthaus had 22 points for Douglass and Chase Banister had 19.

Trinity Academy 67, Garden Plain 49 — Matt Jones had 17 points to lead the host Knights.
