Boys roundup: Carr helps Northwest top Carroll

Cortez Carr made 3 of 4 free throws in the final 30 seconds to help Northwest beat visiting Carroll 44-41 on Friday night in a City League boys basketball game.

Carr had 18 points as the Grizzlies finished the regular season as the City League’s sixth-place team at 9-11, 7-9 CL. Carroll (10-10, 8-8) was led by 14 points from Christian Smith and 11 from Logan Bullinger.

Andover 64, Campus 29 — The visiting Trojans held Campus to nine first-half points in a non-division regular-season finale. Adam DeKoning led Andover with 14 points, while Austin Vaden had nine for Campus.

Andover Central 48, Arkansas City 35 — Cameron Hurley had four treys enroute to a 14-point performance for Central, while Kavin Harris led all scorers with 17, with five treys, for the Bulldogs.

Maize 57, Newton 34 — Tavon Morrow had 21 points, while Aaron Shaw added 10 as he hit 4 of 5 free throws in the third quarter. A 22-point third quarter was the difference maker for the Eagles. The Railers trailed 19-17 at the break.

Maize South 47, Valley Center 46 — Kade Kordonowy made two free throws with 7.6 seconds left to seal the game for Maize South. Valley Center committed a turnover with 2.9 seconds remaining. Brett Barney had 19 points for Maize South.
