Salina South pulled off the 35-10 upset in Hutchinson behind a huge game from quarterback Cody Busby. Busby rushed for 195 yards and four touchdowns and was 3-for-3 passing for 105 yards and one touchdown, a 46-yard scoring strike to Zach Nachbar.

Will Smith led the Salthawks with 125 rushing yards.

Buhler 62, El Dorado 21 — Riley Allen rushed 17 times for 236 yards and four touchdowns for Buhler.

Derby 49, Campus 0 — Chandler Shantz rushed for 123 yards and four touchdowns, and Devin Peter added 104 yards and two touchdowns for Derby. Shantz also pass for a touchdown.

Arkansas City 17, Valley Center 0 — Riley Dowler rushed for 106 yards and passed for 131 yards and one touchdown to lead Arkansas City to a road win over Valley Center. The win improved Arkansas City to 3-1 in AV-CTL II play.

Newton 48, Goddard Eisenhower 14 — Newton’s Coleman Kingsley threw for 275 yards and four touchdowns while Derrick Garnica led the Railers with 109 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a rout at Goddard Eisenhower.

Mulvane 20, Rose Hill 13 — Mulvane’s Nolan Smith opened up the scoring with an 89-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to spark the Wildcats to the victory over visiting Rose Hill. Mulvane improved to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in AV-CTL III play.

Andale 64, Augusta 9 — Andale led 42-9 at halftime and had seven different players score touchdowns in the road victory at Augusta.

Collegiate 35, Clearwater 31 — Collegiate held off a furious, second-half rally by Clearwater for the victory at Clearwater.

Trailing 35-14 at halftime, the Indians held Collegiate to just three points in the second half, but Isaiah Franklin’s 159 rushing yards and three touchdowns on just 11 carries proved to be the difference for the Spartans.

Clearwater’s Chad Reibenspies was 15-for-30 passing for 225 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, hooking up with John Becker on all three scores. Becker finished with seven catches for 100 yards.

McPherson 47, Winfield 8 — McPherson’s Marcus Houghton passed for over 300 yards for the second straight game, going 16 of 20 for 364 yards and four touchdowns. Kyler Kinnamon led the Bullpups’ receivers with six catches for 191 yards and one touchdown.

Austin O’Bannion rushed 26 times for 121 yards and three touchdowns for McPherson, and also had a 2-yard touchdown grab.

Maize 28, Salina Central 21 — Conner Lungwitz hit Kendell Stewart with a 43-yard touchdown pass as time expired to lift Maize to victory. Lungwitz completed 22 of 36 passes for 183 yards.

Hays 55, South 12 — Hays quarterback Alex Delton was 7-for-9 passing for 153 yards and four touchdowns to improve his team to 4-1 and keep South winless.

Conway Springs 45, Trinity Academy 14 — Tanner Wood rushed for 284 yards and Brady Bodine rushed for 140 yards for Conway Springs.

Tyler Burns led Trinity with 163 rushing yards.

Independent 61, Chaparral 58 — The Panthers won on the final play of the game as offensive lineman Lueke Anderson caught a lateral from Brice Dean to complete an 80-yard scoring play in a wild finish.

Dean caught a screen pass from Matt Loveland at the line of scrimmage, darted up the right side of the field and cut back across. Going down around the Chaparral 20-yard line, Dean pitched the ball back to Anderson, who ran in for the score.

Loveland threw four touchdown passes for Independent.
