Women’s basketball coaches from Wichita State, Tulsa and Nebraska are expected to be in attendance at tonight’s open gym at South.

Over the summer, Wichita State coach Jody Adams made offers to South sophomore Kirea Rogers and freshman Kendrian Elliott.

The last open gym that I attended was at Heights when Bill Self, Frank Martin, John Calipari, Johnny Dawkins, Rick Pitino, Josh Pastner, Gregg Marshall were all in attendance to watch Perry Ellis.

This open gym at South is impressive, too. It’s always good to see girls basketball get some attention in the City League. The league has turned out its fair share of Division I athletes, but most have come from Heights and Carroll.

Christine Elliott, who played one year at South after starting her career at East, went on to play at SMU.
