Creighton basketball offers Maize sophomore Keiryn Swenson
By Joanna Chadwick
Maize sophomore Keiryn Swenson made a statement as a freshman volleyball player when she started for the Eagles. She was a dominant presence in the middle, both as a hitter and a blocker.
But then basketball season started, and Swenson proved herself just as dominant on the basketball court.
Creighton has offered Swenson a scholarship.
Swenson broke into a veteran-laden team and played extremely well for the Eagles, helping them to a third-place finish in Class 6A. Swenson was a scoring and rebounding presence, and it was her consistency that was most impressive.
She also had a strong spring in track.
Again, another multi-sport athlete who has choices — there has been colleges showing interest in her for both track and volleyball, as well, and she’s open to playing any of the three. Awesome to see.
She was at last week’s showcase in Cincinnati and will have tournaments in Nashville, Johnson County and Denver.
