City League football schedule adjusted

The City League football schedule has been adjusted due to construction delays at Heights.
The construction at Heights’ football field, new stands and a press box, was slated to be finished at the end of June. That has now been pushed back to Sept. 20.
Heights’ opener with Bishop Carroll on Aug. 30 will now be played at South.
The West-East game has been moved to Sept. 6 at Northwest, while the Kapaun-North game will be played Sept. 13 at South.
The hope is that all will go well from here on out because Heights has its homecoming scheduled for Sept. 21 against Kapaun.
The situation certainly isn’t ideal, especially because Heights would like to have homefield advantage against Carroll, the favorite to win the CityLeague — and possibly Class 5A.
“Would we like to play Carroll at home?” Heights coach Rick Wheeler asked. “Sure, we would love to play them at 53rd and Hillside. But for what the game is really about — finding out what we’re about — we’ll just have to get on a bus to do it.”
