Girls roundup: Bachrodt, Kapaun beat North
Freshman guard Sam Bachrodt scored 19 points, including three three-pointers, to lead Kapaun Mount Carmel past North 71-50 in a City League girls basketball game at North on Friday night.
The Crusaders (14-4, 12-2) clinched second place in the City League.
Kapaun center Sydney Kuhn added 14 points and Katie Andersen added 12, including two threes in the first quarter.
Senior forward Naomi Rosales had 29 points for North (7-12, 6-9).

East 46, Northwest 37— A buzzer-beating three pointer by Relina Johnson gave the Aces a 17-point cushion to start the final period. Ceyaira Washington led East with 18 points, and Johnson added 13. Cassidy Harbert scored 11 for Northwest, and Shayla Cotman scored 10.
Southeast 61, West 38 — Alana Glover scored 14 points and host Southeast (4-13, 3-10) put away West early with a 35-12 first half. Aujanae McCoy had 18 points for West.
Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League
Andale 47, Collegiate 40 — Bailey VenJohn (11 points), Josie Eck (10) and Jill Ast (10) led the visiting Indians past Collegiate and into a share of the Division IV title. Andale (15-3, 7-1) can clinch it outright Tuesday at home against Clearwater. Sydney Lower had 16 to lead Collegiate (7-11, 2-6).
Wellington 53, Circle 35 — Dani Anderson scored 23 points for host Wellington (16-2, 6-2), which remained a game behind first-place Andale in Division IV. Ashley Frankenbery had 13 for Circle (6-11, 1-7).
Rose Hill 58, El Dorado 34 — The Rockets improved to 5-3 in Division IV behind Kayla Justice’s 17 points. Andrea Valadez’s 21 points led El Dorado (3-14, 1-7).
Hutchinson 49, Derby 40 — Visiting Hutch won by the same margin it established in the first quarter. Shelby Morford and Shea Morford had 11 points each for the Salthawks, while Alyxis Bowens led three Panthers in double figures with 13.
Maize 68, Campus 28 — The visiting Eagles built a 32-12 halftime lead and rolled from there. Paige Lungwitz had 17 for Maize (16-2, 9-1), which maintained its one-game Division I lead over Salina Central.
McPherson 67, Goddard Eisenhower 22 — Hailey Ruder (17 points) was one of three Bullpups in double figures in McPherson’s big road win. Ashton Bruner had 13 and Katelyn Loecker 12 as McPherson pulled a half-game ahead of Andover Central in Division II. Kilah Hoenscheidt had 11 to lead Eisenhower (0-18, 0-11).
Valley Center 46, Arkansas City 26 — Meagan Williams and Madison Wedekind had 14 points each in the visiting Hornets’ victory.

Garden Plain 65, Chaparral 38 — The visiting Owls sewed up the CPL crown behind 19 points from Sierra Hays and 12 from Alli Heimerman. Garden Plain (18-2, 8-0) had already clinched a share of the title. Cheney 33, Conway Springs 25 — The visiting Cardinals outscored Conway 12-2 in the fourth quarter to create a four-way tie for second place in the CPL and clinch the title for Garden Plain. Carlea Holt had 12 to lead Cheney.
Bluestem 48, Independent 42 — Casady Marinee had 18 points and Brandee Oliver 15 for the host Lions (3-16, 1-7). Alise Coccetella had 17 to lead Independent (2-17, 0-8).
Belle Plaine 42, Trinity Academy 35 — Belle Plaine hit a season-best 20 of 23 free throws in beating Trinity (8-11, 3-5). Ciarra Myers led Belle Plaine (9-10, 4-4) with 16 points, including 8 of 10 second-half free throws. Annemarie Hamersky added 12 for Belle Plaine.
