Boys roundup: Andover Central beats Ark City

Tied at 22 through three quarters, visiting Andover Central outscored Arkansas City 19-5 in the fourth quarter Tuesday night to win 41-27 in an Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division II boys game.

Jorden Kaufman had 17 points for Central (16-0, 8-0), while Dakotah Stewart and David Boxman had eight each for Ark City (5-11, 1-7).

Other AV-CTL

Derby 69, Newton 54 — The Panthers opened up a two-game lead the AV-CTL’s largest division by winning at Newton. Coupled with Hutchinson’s loss at Salina South, Derby (12-4, 8-0) is ahead by two games. Garrett Dinsmore and Kyler Steadman had 14 points each for the Panthers.

Andale 57, Rose Hill 33 — Andrew Bergkamp led a balanced Andale offense with 12 points as the Indians (13-2) won a non-league game at Rose Hill (5-10). Kyle Anderson had 13 points for the Rockets.

Abilene 82, Augusta 39 — The visiting Orioles (8-7) gave up at least 20 points in each of the first three quarters. Kyler Steinkamp had eight points for the Orioles.

Winfield 49, Circle 44 — The host Vikings led 26-12 at halftime and held on in the second half. Adam Ronnebaum had 13 points and Stewart Dennison 10 for Circle (5-11) in the non-league loss.

Salina Central 41, Maize 38 — Blake Pontius had eight points to lead Maize in a road loss. The Eagles are 2-13, 2-5, while Salina Central improved to 9-6, 5-3.

McPherson 57, Goddard 39 — Cody Cape (13 points) led four Bullpups in double figures as McPherson (13-3, 6-1 Division II) stayed on leader Andover Central’s heels. Alex Shoemaker had 13 points for Goddard (2-12, 1-6).

Central Plains League

Independent 72, Chaparral 41 — Scotty McCartney of Chaparral led all scorers with 25, but Christian Packebush scored 19 and Eddie Fahnestock scored 15 for the Panthers as Independent stay tied with Conway Springs at the top of the CPL. The Panthers travel to Conway Springs on Friday.

Cheney 60, Belle Plaine 49 — The Cardinals (9-8, 3-2) outscored host Belle Plaine 20-6 in the fourth quarter to claim victory. Gabe Schomacker had 18 points to lead Cheney.

Medicine Lodge 63, Garden Plain 55 — Bryan Hellman had 17 points in the Indians’ road victory. Medicine Lodge is 14-2, 4-1 CPL.

Douglass 56, Trinity Academy 52 — Ronnie Sobanek had 21 points and Cody Holthaus 16 as Douglass (10-6, 3-2) won at Trinity (8-8, 2-3). Wilson Alexander and Ryan Miller had 15 for the Knights.
