Area boys roundup: El Dorado turns back Mulvane for first win

Travis House scored 20 points, Michael Riedl had 18 and Trevor Crain added 16 as the El Dorado Wildcats won their first boys basketball game, defeating Mulvane 67-60 in overtime on Friday night in El Dorado.

El Dorado (1-3, 1-1 AV-CTL III) led 33-22 at halftime, but lost most of the lead in the third quarter and was taken to overtime.

El Dorado outscored Mulvane 11-4 in overtime for the home win.

Nolan Smith led Mulvane with 18 points.

Andale 46, Circle 35 — Hunter Knoblauch scored 11 points and Ben Seiler added 10 for Andale. Adam Ronnebaum led Circle with 12 points.

Andover 50, Valley Center 30 — Andover led 34-12 at halftime and rolled to the victory over the visiting Hornets behind 12 points from Robert Peare and nine points from Dylan Driver. Zach Brown led Valley Center with 16 points.

Buhler 45, Augusta 43 — JP Lohrentz scored 18 points to lead three Buhler players in double figures. Brandon Givens and Braden Schmitt added 11 points for Buhler. Brandt Patterson led Augusta with 22 points.

Collegiate 50, Clearwater 33 — Trace Clark scored 18 points as the Spartans moved to 5-0 and Clearwater dropped to 4-2. Colin Frickey led Clearwater with 12 points.

Goddard 42, Arkansas City 40 — Goddard picked up the home victory behind 10 points from Alex Shoemaker after Arkansas City almost completed a rally from a 21-12 halftime deficit.

Wellington 54, Maize South 39 — Wellington hit 11 of 19 free throws in the fourth quarter. The Crusaders outscored Maize South 26-11 in the fourth quarter. Evan Keller and Taylan Ybarra scored 12 points apiece for Wellington. Wellington led 21-18 at the half, Brett Barney scored 17 points form Maize South, which fell to 0-4.

Winfield 60, Rose Hill 55 — Winfield survived a frightful 10-0 start, then outscored Winfield 18-4 in the third quarter to take 43-38 lead. Landon Fox had a nine-point surge in the third quarter and finished with 22 to lead his Viking teammates. Rose Hill was led by Jake Sutton’s 15 points.

Independent 75, Bluestem 47 — Eddie Fahnestock scored a game-high 22 points and Matt Kaufman added 15 for Independent in a rout of visiting Bluestem. Blake Bolander led Bluestem with 13 points.

Trinity Academy 59, Douglass 48 — Ryan Miller sparked the Knights with 13 of his 24 points in the first quarter, leading Trinity to a 20-14 first quarter lead that they never relinquished.
