East proves too much for South

East possesses a roster with significant height, length and athleticism. For South to get a victory Tuesday night, it’d take a strong, attacking effort.

South established momentum at the beginning of each half, but it was the 18-3 East run at the end of the first half that proved to be the clincher for the Blue Aces.

Nathan Jackson and Jalen Love led the way with 14 and 13 points as the Blue Aces (2-0) beat South 70-61.

East coach Ron Allen saw an 8-4 lead for South to open the game and he knew his team would have to pick up its intensity.

“They came right out and took it to us,” Allen said. “Thankfully as the quarter continued, we came out with some intensity of our own and established ourselves.”

East opened up its first run, moving ahead 16-8 and it was capped off by a two-handed slam from JJ Normore.
