First-year Andover girls golf coach Ryan Harshaw is taking over a team that's used to high levels of success and he's liked what he's seen in early practices.

"Expectations are pretty high for our program," Harshaw said. "It'll be key for us to use the expectations positively and improve as the season progresses."

Seniors Audrey Meisch and Jessica Morrison are returning from top-20 finishes at last year's Class 5A tournament.

They'll each be an important part to the Trojans' success.

"They've been outstanding leaders and role models for the other girls on the team," Harshaw said. "They lead by score, but more importantly by the way they carry themselves on the course."

Both Morrison and Meisch have taken the role and also accepted the challenge of leading the program.

"We both try to do drills at 100 percent," Meisch said. "We can't afford to have a lazy approach or else that will effect the way we play this season."

Having it be their senior season, Meisch and Morrison understand it's their last go-around and they want to make the most of it.

"We want to take the league title again and place higher at state," Morrison said. "We'll have to take last year's experience and realize it's going to take our best effort each time out to get there."
