No. 6 Leavenworth (16-6) —The Pioneers, who won 6A in 2000, are making their 29th trip to state. They are on a five-game winning streak, which followed losing 4 of 5. They are led by Kyle Wiggins (14.9 points, 47-percent shooting), Grant Greenberg and Chris Simanowitz (5.3 rebounds).

No. 3 Dodge City (19-2) _ Rico Hogan (12.9 points), Bruce Campbell (10.5 points, 6.1 rebounds) and Trey Hallman (3.5 assists) have the Demons on a 13-game winning streak. The Demons, who allow 39 points and 37-percent shooting, can play multiple offensive and defensive styles and still be successful.

No. 7 Wichita Northwest (15-7) —Northwest, which won the 2005-06 Class 6A title, was 3-18 two seasons ago. The Grizzlies are led by juniors Craig Nicholson (19.5 points), a skilled ballhandler and three-point threat, June Johnson (10.3 points), Spenser Gales (7.3 rebounds) and senior Kendrick Miller (10.3 points).

No. 2 Blue Valley Northwest (21-1) —The Huskies, who finished second last season, rely on five seniors, including Brett Fisher (15.4 points), Morgan Smith (8.6 points) and George Bugarinovic (8 points). The Huskies go at least nine deep and are led by freshman point guard Clay Custer (10.5 points, 4.1 assists).

No. 5 Washburn Rural (18-4) —First-year coach Clint Meitler coached Douglass to a 20-3 record last season. Washburn Rural lost to Olathe East by two on Jan. 25. The Junior Blues are led by 5-11 guard Josh Sweet (10.8 points), as well as forwards Reed Rowell (6-foot-7, 7 rebounds) and Jake Ediger (6-5, 17.9 points, 6.3 rebounds).

No. 4 Olathe East (19-3) —Olathe East, which lost to Olathe South in the regular-season finale, is led by guard Tyler Kalinoski. He is a threat to score and always defends an opponent's top player. He averages 16.5 points, 5.3 assists, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 steals and shoots 43 percent from three. Cole Cook averages 10.6 points.

No. 8 Blue Valley West (9-13) —The Jaguars, at state for the fifth time in seven seasons, didn't beat a team with a winning record in sub-state. They rely on DeSean Warren (8.1 points), and Connor Haden (7.1 points). Nick Besler has signed with Notre Dame for soccer. Zach Epps suffered a hip injury and is questionable.

No. 1 Wichita Heights (22-0) —Heights, the two-time defending champ, has won 41 straight, tying Wichita South's 6A record. The Falcons are led by Perry Ellis (22.7 points, 8 rebounds), Evan Wessel (13.2 points, 4.7 assists), E.J. Dobbins (6.1 assists), Dreamius Smith (9.1 points) and Terrence Moore (12.5 points).
