What Augusta does well: “We have done a great job of adjusting to a new coach, but it also helps that Coach Robben has not changed a lot offensively. He has brought enthusiasm to the program that was not here last season.”

What it has to improve: “Being consistent is something we struggled with last season, so with so many seniors, we need to get better with being consistent.”

Our breakdown

Augusta will primarily be a running team and it will use a variety of offensive schemes, including the option, but do not be surprised if the Orioles mix in some play action and trickery with the passing game. The focal points of the offense will be Hess, who threw for 777 yards last season and Mestas, who ran for 578 yards. Robben hopes his new, energetic style can help the Orioles develop some continuity. Augusta could conceivably have two or three wins heading into district and closes with games against El Dorado and Circle, two teams it beat last season. Expect a showdown with Circle in the final game for a playoff spot.
