No. 8 Bishop Carroll (11-11)

Senior Blake Bell averaged 16.5 points, and Brian Rohleder and Ben Dreiling combined for 17 points against Kapaun in Carroll's sub-state final. Carroll, which plays at a methodical pace, had the No. 1 defense in the City League, giving up 48 points. It's the Eagles third trip to state in five years.

No. 1 Bishop Miege (22-0)

Ranked No. 20 in the nation by MaxPreps, Miege outscored its opponents by an average of 23 points the last three games. Miege's defense allows 47 points and has given up more than 60 three times. Senior Trevor Releford, an all-state selection last year, led the Stags with 27 points in their sub-state final against Blue Valley North. Releford has signed with Alabama.

No. 5 Great Bend (15-7)

Senior Logan Marshall, who averages 9.2 points and 5 assists, leads Great Bend. Great Bend won the 2005 and 2006 5A titles and returns to state for the first time since 2007 by beating Emporia by 1 and Hays by 2 in sub-state.

No. 4 Gardner-Edgerton (18-4)

Conner Langrehr (19.4 points, 5 rebounds) and coach Jeff Langrehr play Great Bend, where Jeff Langrehr coached and taught for 22 years. Bubba Starling averages a double-double (18.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4 assist, 3 blocks). Gardner-Edgerton has won 18 of 19 since an 0-3 start, its only loss to 6A's Wichita Heights.

No. 7 KC Washington (13-9)

Tra'vaughn White (25.2 points) carries Washington. White shoots 52 percent from three and 77 percent from the free-throw line. Kalen Allen (11.9), Myles Hibler (8.5) Deandre Campbell (7.9) also contributed to Washington's 70-point average.

No. 2 McPherson (21-1)

Christian Ulsaker (20.4 points) and Treg Fawl (14 points) lead McPherson back to state for the 16th time in 21 years. Jack Pyle (19.4 points) will miss state due to an enlarged spleen, his father said. McPherson outscored its opponents by an average of 21 points during the year. McPherson has attempted more free throws than its opponents have made.

No. 6 Topeka West (14-8)

Alex North (17 points, 11 rebounds) led the Centennial League in scoring. Jarrod Kruger (9 points) and Tyrell Brown (6 points) also contribute to an experienced team with five seniors that start and three reserve juniors. Topeka West has won seven games in a row and returns to state for the first time since 2005's second-place finish.

No. 3 Andover Central (20-2)

Marshall Miller (16.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4 assists) and Randall Vautravers (11.8 points, 9 rebounds) lead the Jaguars. Central made 38.4 percent of its three, with Miller making 48.5 percent. Central out-rebounded opponents by 10 per game.
