Friday night with the Screamin' Stampede
Campus is having a season worth cheering for — the Colts are 8-5 after Friday's overtime loss to Hutchinson.
The Screamin' Stampede student section isn't anything new for Campus students, but this year it's taken on a whole new following — about 60 members, led by 14 seniors.
Best moments from Friday's fans:
The White Out: "White Out Night" encouraged students to dress in white. Justin Witt took it to an extreme _T-shirt, shoes, doctor's coat, painted face, neck, hair... it was everywhere.
The Chant: The students used a variety of chants during the game from your standard "Defense!" cheer to the best of the night "Salty, Salty, Salty!" at their opponent, the Salthawks.
The Impact:By counting down the end of the quarter about three seconds too fast, the students got Hutchinson's Scott Weber to rush and miss his three-point attempt.
The Visual Aid: The students don't come empty handed. The best sign was "Where do I park my horse?" It might not work for most schools, but for the Colts, it did. Runners-up: "Who invited this guy?" and "Any questions?"
The Free-throw songs: Yeah, the students sing during opponents' free throws. Maybe not the best musically, but "Don't stop believin' " is inspired.
The Heckler: Lelan Howe wouldn't give up. Screaming at any player close enough to hear him, Howe was relentless. His favorite, "Hey, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3... ," would go on about 20 seconds each time.
The Quote: "When you play at home it should be advantage," Boys coach Josh Axline said. "If you don't have a great crowd that doesn't get loud and excited it doesn't create an advantage, but when you do it creates an atmosphere that can affect them."
